Nightfall.

A paper-cut lightbox with a forest inside. Six ridgelines recede toward a warm core, a low coral sun sits behind the deepest hill, birds cross the glow, mist drifts between the layers, and fireflies come out in the near dark. Move across it and the whole box leans with you. New night grows a different range.

A lightbox with a forest inside.

Move across it and the layers lean. Wait, and the birds cross.

Bench notes

The construction
Every ridgeline is a single vector path grown from seeded noise, stacked like sheets of cut paper in a shadow box, hazier and lighter the deeper they sit. The scene is baked into the page itself, so it exists complete before any script runs.
The life
Birds fly on long slow loops with flapping wings, layers breathe sideways on their own clocks, the sun's halo swells and settles, fireflies wander as they blink. All of it is stylesheet animation; with reduced motion on, the finished scene simply stands still.
The history
This was briefly the Lab's front door. The door needed to be something you could hold, so the forest moved into its own case, where a landscape belongs.
